Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. —Colossians 1:16–17
Below you will find numerous opportunities for adults to learn, deepen in, and live out their faith in our parish community:
St. Dominic Cenacle
|
On March 7th, we launched a new weekly group of discipleship for adults, called St. Dominic Cenacle. The group takes its inspiration from the image and spirituality of the Upper Room in the New Testament, the room where the Last Supper happened, where Jesus appeared to His disciples as risen from the dead, and where the Holy Spirit descended upon the Church at Pentecost. The group consists in weekly meetings, various service opportunities, and occasional outings and events. The weekly meetings are on Tuesday nights and involve 30 minutes of prayerful Adoration in the church from 7 to 7:30pm, or Mass once a month. After this beginning period of prayer, we make our way to the Parish Meeting Room, where we have a meeting exploring some aspect of our faith, through talks, discussions, prayerfully reading the Scriptures, and inspiring videos.

Lay Fraternity of St. Dominic
Members of the Fraternities of St. Dominic (also known as Lay Dominicans, the Third Order of St. Dominic, or Dominican Tertiaries) are lay men and women who are fully incorporated members of the Order of Preachers and live out their Dominican vocation in the world. They have been active at this parish since the early 1900s. Their mission is that of the Order: to spread the Word of God. The life of a Lay Dominican focuses on four areas: (1) Prayer, (2) Study, (3) Community, and (4) Apostolate. They share in the spirituality of the Order and strive to deepen their knowledge of the faith through retreats, days of reflection, and chapter meetings. They seek not only their own salvation but that of others. The Chapter of St. Dominic meets on the first Sunday of the month. Knights of Columbus: O'Boyle Council
The Knights of Columbus is an organization of Catholic gentlemen committed to the exemplification of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism, and defense of the Priesthood. Based out of St. Dominic Parish, the Patrick Cardinal O'Boyle Council #11302 of the Knights of Columbus has also been serving the parishes of St. Peters on the Hill, St. Joseph, and St. Vincent de Paul since 1904. The Order is consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and is unequivocal in its loyalty to the pope, the Vicar of Christ on earth. It is firmly committed to the protection of human life from conception to natural death, and to the preservation and defense of the family. It was on these bedrock principles that the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney founded the Order in 1882 and remains true to them today. Local activities include parish upkeep and maintenance; programs to support St. Peter's School, support for seminarians/vocations, pro-life activities, coats for kids, food drives, and active participation in our parish ministries.
